Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment.
The mission of Society is to be an European resource for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of both Dirofilaria immitis and Dirofilaria repens and Angiostrongylus vasorum in companion animals and to educate physicians and the public on the zoonotic risk of human Dirofilariosis.
We have as main objectives:
Further scientific progress in the study of heartworm and subcutaneous Dirofilaria and Angiostrongylus infections in Europe.
Harmonize procedures for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Dirofilaria and Angiostrongylus infections throughout Europe by writing official Guidelines.
Inform the membership and medical and veterinary practitioners of new developments.
Inform animal owners and inhabitants of the importance of these worms and of their prevention.
For these purposes the Society will organize workshops, seminars, meetings and will develop and maintain a website.
It will also participate in any scientific meetings where the subjects of Dirofilariosis and Angiostrongylosis are included.
We really appreciate your support during the ESDA Days, and we would like to go further by proposing to be constantly part of the ESDA aims & missions, supporting the society in the daily job.
