Aims & Mission
The mission of Society is to be an European resource for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of both D. immitis and D. repens and Angiostrongylus vasorum in companion animals and to educate physicians and the public on the zoonotic risk of human Dirofilariosis. The objectives are to:
The Society is open to all the scientists, medical and veterinary practitioners who are interested or involved in Dirofilaria and Angiostrongylus experimental and field studies, biology, epidemiology and clinical aspects of these parasitic infections. The membership is further open to local or national authorities or representatives involved in human and veterinary health and environmental risk of human and animal Dirofilaria infections due to animal reservoir movement, people travels and tourism.
For these purposes the Society will organize workshops, seminars, meetings and will develop and maintain a website.
It will also participate in any scientific meetings where the subjects of Dirofilariosis and Angiostrongylosis are included.
